Aloe Vera
It is often said the Aloe Vera was part of Cleopatra's secret to beauty. There are also many biblical references to Aloe Vera. Dioscorides, a Greek historian, recommended Aloe Vera as a treatment for burns, kidney ailments, and constipation. The ancient Egyptians were thought to have used Aloe Vera in their embalming procedures. They also used it for sunburns and to retard the aging process. The Chinese considered the Aloe Vera sacred and used it for stomach and colon ailments. In the Philippines, it is used with milk for dysentery and kidney infections.
You've probably used Aloe Vera when you've cut or burnt your skin and had fantastic results. You should consider drinking Aloe Vera too. Here's why...
Aloe Vera (barbadensis miller) contains over 20 minerals, all of which are essential to the human body. The human body requires 22 amino acids for good health - eight of which are called "essential" because your body cannot fabricate them. Aloe Vera contains all of these eight essential amino acids, and 11 of the 14 "secondary" amino acids. Aloe Vera contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, and E.
Vitamins cannot be manufactured within your body, and some cannot be stored by your body, so your diet has to provide a continuous supply.
To get a steady supply of these minerals, amino acids, and vitamins, you should drink between two to four ounces of Aloe Vera Gel twice daily.
some properties of Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera juice is high in antioxidants and as a result boosts your immune system by detoxifying the body and preventing illness.
A component of Aloe Vera, namely acemannan, is an approved treatment for leukemia, believed to be caused by a virus similar to HIV. Acemannan has been recognized as extremely effective at boosting the immune system.
Aloe contains a high amount of protein, including 22 of the 24 amino acids required for human well-being and all eight of the essential amino acids not manufactured by the human body.
Aloe contains ten vitamins, including an uncommon, plant-derived source of B12, also know as cobalamin. Cobalamin helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells, and is also needed to produce DNA, the genetic material in all cells.
Aloe Vera contains over 30 enzymes, including lipase and oxidase. It could be argued that enzymes are the missing link in the modern diet. 90% of us suffer digestive problems (Zantac is the world’s biggest-selling drug), and digestion is enzyme-dependent.
Aloe Vera contains anthraquinones, which due to their small size and low molecular weight allow easy entry into cells. These anthraquinones are extremely cytotoxic towards (i.e. they fight against) a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, and viruses such as pneumonia, E coli, blood infections, diarrhea, skin infections, and tuberculosis.
Aloe Vera contains two important plant hormones – gibberellins and auxins- the same two hormones linked to the healing qualities of kelp. Both hormones, along with saponins, which are also present in Aloe, stimulate cell replication and lead to accelerated healing.
Aloe Vera contains significant levels of salicylic acid (the active ingredient in aspirin), which accounts for some of Aloe’s pain-killing potential. This acid also plays a role in detoxification and the cell-cleansing capacity of this herb.
The key interrelation of all these integral parts of Aloe and many more is controlled by five different long-chain sugars present in Aloe, the most active being a muco-polysaccharide called glucomannans. The active ingredients of immune stimulants such as Echinacea and oriental mushrooms are also a function of their polysaccharides.
